Three ways in. Two roles. One catalogue.

Whether you are writing a book, defending a dissertation, or running a press with a catalogue to place — this is how publishing with us actually works.

  • You keep the rights

Publishing with us is a licence to sell, not a transfer of ownership. The work stays yours, and you can take a title off sale whenever you want.

  • A person reads everything

Every submission is read by an editor or a moderator before a reader ever sees it — no automated approvals, in either direction.

  • One fee, shown up front

The submission form calculates your publishing fee line by line and shows the total before you commit to anything.

  • Paid on every sale

Commission accrues the moment a payment clears and is paid to the account that published the title, on schedule.

The pipelines

The three publishing pipelines

Every title on Glare Books arrived through one of three routes. They share a review and a storefront; they differ in who may use them and what they ask for.

The roles

The two roles

An account holds one of two publishing roles. One you give yourself; the other we grant after reading your application.

AuthorYou open this door yourself — no waiting
PublisherWe open this one, after reading your application

Author

A person publishing their own work. The role is self-served: sign the declaration and the Author Studio opens immediately — there is no application to wait on.

What this role can do

  • Publish books and dissertations under your own name or pen name
  • Keep a public author profile readers can find and follow
  • Track submissions, reviews and sales in the Author Studio
  • Earn commission on every sale, paid out on schedule
  • Ask for edits to a live title, or take one off sale and relist it later

Where the line is

  • You may only publish work you wrote or hold the rights to
  • You cannot list another author's title on their behalf
  • An account is either an author or a publisher — never both at once

How you get it: Create an account, open the Author Studio and sign the self-declaration. That is the whole of it.

Become an author

Publisher

A registered company placing its catalogue with us. The role is granted after our team reviews your application, because a publisher publishes on other people's behalf.

What this role can do

  • List any title your house holds distribution rights to
  • Credit the authors of each title, with your imprint beside it
  • Keep a public company profile with your whole catalogue on it
  • Manage commissions, payouts and logistics for the house
  • Fulfil hard-copy orders yourself, or let us ship them

Where the line is

  • Registration documents are required and are reviewed by a person
  • Every title is still reviewed individually before it goes on sale
  • An account is either a publisher or an author — converting one to the other is a deliberate, audited step

How you get it: Apply from your account with the company's details and registration documents. We review and come back to you.

Step by step

From account to catalogue

  1. 1

    Create an account

A free reader account is the starting point for every route — author, researcher or press.

  2. 2

    Pick your route

Book, dissertation, or a publishing house registration. The form adapts to the one you choose.

  3. 3

    Submit and pay

Fill in the guided form and pay the fee, which is shown in full before you commit to anything.

  4. 4

    Editorial review

A real editor reads the work, runs our checks, and talks to you about anything that needs changing.

  5. 5

    Go live and earn

Your title is listed worldwide, your public profile links to it, and you earn on every sale.

By the numbers

Questions

Before you start

Do I keep the rights to my work?

Yes. Publishing with us is a licence to sell, not a transfer of ownership. The work stays yours.

How much does it cost?

One publishing fee per title, calculated by the form and shown in full before you pay. Dissertation fees are fixed per degree level.

Can I be an author and a publisher?

No — an account holds one of the two roles. If your circumstances change, our team can convert the account, and every title moves with it.

How long does review take?

Most submissions are decided within the service window shown on your submission. You are notified at every step, and you can message the reviewer from the task.

What happens if my work is rejected?

You are told why, in writing. You can revise and resubmit — repeated near-identical resubmissions are flagged to our reviewers.

Ready when you are.

Pick a route, fill in the form, and let an editor take it from there.
